The amphibious concept is a pioneering HIGRA technology, developed so the pump can operate both submerged and out of water, with no adaptations or auxiliary cooling systems.
In this concept, water is admitted through the flanged axial suction, passes through the centrifugal impeller and flows internally through the pump-motor assembly, providing continuous motor cooling even in above-water operation. This architecture eliminates the need for an oil chamber, external mechanical seals and additional cooling systems, resulting in simpler, more reliable equipment with a longer service life compared with conventional technologies.

At HIGRA, hydraulic performance is not based on estimates or generic catalog curves. All Amphibious Pumps are developed, simulated and validated using CFD (Computational Fluid Dynamics) software before they go into production. Every detail of fluid mechanics is analyzed computationally to maximize efficiency, operating stability and performance at the application's duty point.
